Batteries
What do you want your battery to do? Using more of your own solar after dark, backup when the grid goes down, or a bit more certainty on future power costs.

What do you want your battery to do?
That's probably the best place to start.
For some homes, a battery is about using more of their own solar after the sun goes down. For others, it's backup power, relying less on the grid, or bringing a little more certainty to future power costs.
And sometimes the value is much more practical: keeping the fridge and freezer cold, the internet running, the lights on or the home office working when the grid goes down.
A battery doesn't automatically make sense for every home. We'll look at your power use, solar production and what you actually want the battery to achieve. If it doesn't stack up, that's useful to know too.
Backup when it matters
Without battery backup, a normal grid-connected solar system shuts down when the grid goes down. A properly designed battery system can keep selected circuits running or, where the system and property suit it, provide broader home backup.
That might mean protecting a freezer full of food, keeping communications running while you're away, or simply having the house carry on while the rest of the street is out.
Why we use Sungrow batteries
Out here, heat matters. We like Sungrow because battery safety, engineering and reliability are taken seriously, and it is a system we're comfortable putting our name on.
The monitoring is straightforward as well. You can open the app and quickly understand what the solar is producing, what the battery is doing and where your power is going.
For us, it is a good balance of safety, reliability and usability for the conditions we work in.
Give us a call
Start with what you want the battery to do. Give us a call and tell us what you're trying to achieve — we'll work through whether a battery makes sense and what the right setup looks like.
